Renewable Energy in Moorhead

      For the city of Moorhead, investing in renewable energy would greatly improve the local economy. Currently, all of the renewable energy we produce must be sold back to the parent company that the city has signed a contract with. If Moorhead were to terminate these contracts and invest in local production, the money would stay in the local economy.

      As it currently stands, increased citywide renewable energy production allows individual citizens to reap the benefits of governmental and local subsidies for each kilowatt installed residentially. Furthermore, by increasing the demand for renewable energy, local job openings to assist in the installation of home solar and wind options will be of benefit.
